A Realistic Approach to "Balance" and Grabbing the New Moon in Scorpio by the Horns
Last night I ate Burger King for the probably the second time in my 32 years of existence. It was one of the greatest feats of my life.
I’m your typical “eat whatever the hell makes you feel good and healthy but still enjoy a few cocktails, cupcakes, and the good things in life” kind of gal – but this wasn’t always the case. That whole “balance” part of the eating equation was something I couldn’t quite figure out for all of my 20’s. And we all need to find the right mix of Pilates and Pizza, right?
For over a decade, balance to me was eating vegan for X number of days, counting every single calorie that went into my body in an excel document, working out 2x a day, and feeling guilty about anything that went inside my body that didn’t fit into a certain equation. Clearly health obsessed (with no sense of balance), the thought of eating something like Burger King would have literally sent shivers down my body. To add an extra layer of food anxiety to the equation, I would have actually been embarrassed to eat it as well!
Fast forward to this past Sunday evening – sitting in the airport in Singapore en route back to my home in Bali where one “should” be eating the last few bites of the local Singaporean food, I proudly ordered my second burger ever from Burger King.
So what the heck does my recent airport meal have to do with the New Moon and “balance”? Oh so much…
We’ve just entered the New Moon in Scorpio on November 18th, 2017 - Scorpio is our ally to destroy, eliminate and let go in order to heal the past, recreate, begin anew with passion…* It’s a time to persuade ourselves that letting go of our old habits, beliefs and even ideals is needed so that they can come back to us in a new, more relevant form. It’s time to release old stereotypes so that the archetypal energies behind them can manifest in new and more life-giving forms.**
UM HELL YES New Moon in Scorpio! I’m in for all kinds of that new moon rebirth and healing of the past....
For me, eating that burger meant laughing in the face of my old thoughts that “balance” meant eating perfectly like an instagram health food feed portrays – but finally believing it’s really about having your kale…and your burger too (if that’s your sort of thing…). Goodbye past habits, hello healthy new balanced habits that work for me (thank you New Moon in Scorpio!). And what a way to end the recent moon cycle – with a burger (I woke up craving a green juice and feeling more alive than ever with the new moon – how fitting, right?)
This new moon in Scorpio is truly a badass one. It’s a time that encourages us to start living like we truly and genuinely want to be living. It’s a time where we are able to release our emotional fears that are taking power over us (like freaken burgers…or whatever might be holding you back from living your happiest and most badass life). And if we are not afraid, what can really take our power away from us anyways…nothing!
I’m no longer afraid of the burger, even though I’ll still choose the Kale Salad 99% of the time. And that’s balance, right?
Happy Healing and Happy New Moon! xx
